Severely disabled persons who have a severely disabled pass with a valid token can travel free of charge.

What you need to travel by boat free of charge: A severely disabled pass, a valid token on the supplement to the severely disabled pass, and a ticket, which you can obtain from the conductor on the boat. You must show the card and token to the boat conductor. If you do not have both items with you, you will have to pay. It is not sufficient to have a copy with you. You must have the original card with you.

Disabled toilets

All ships have a disabled-friendly toilet.

Parking spaces for disabled people

There is a public parking lot for people with disabilities near the following jetties:

  • Starnberg at the train station
  • Tutzing at the train station
  • Bernried at the train station
  • Seeshaupt at the train station

Do you use a wheelchair, a rollator or other aids? Perhaps you are travelling with a pram or have limited mobility due to an injury.

How do I get to the jetties and the ships?

  • The gangways are easily accessible. In rough seas, you should expect the ships to sway during boarding.
  • Boarding is via a wheelchair-accessible gangway, which is level or slightly sloped depending on the water level. There is a small 5 cm threshold (tripping hazard!) to negotiate. On the MS STARNBERG, MS SEESHAUPT, and electric ship BERG, the gangway leads directly into the main saloon. Only on the MS BERNRIED are there two steps to negotiate.

At the boat

MS STARNBERG

  • There is a large entrance area and plenty of space on deck for wheelchair users.
  • The main deck is accessible without steps.
  • The upper deck and sun deck are accessible via stair lifts (load capacity 160 kg) (operated by the ship's crew; not suitable for electric wheelchairs or walkers).

MS SEESHAUPT

  • There is a large entrance area and plenty of space on deck for wheelchair users.
  • The main deck is accessible without steps.
  • All upper decks are accessible by elevator.

Electric ship BERG

  • Sufficiently large entrance area.
  • The saloon on the main deck is accessible without steps.
  • The open deck is accessible by elevator.

MS BERNRIED

  • To access the main deck, there are two steps down from the gangway.
  • The main deck itself is then step-free.
  • The MS BERNRIED does not have any stair lifts or elevators. There is no open deck on the main deck level.
  • The sun deck is accessible via 13 steps.
