Excursion tips

Experience a romantic sunset aboard a ship!

You will experience especially atmospheric sunsets aboard an Ammersee steamer. Use ship no. 4 (during the summer months / see timetable), from Stegen at 18.10 pm (return at 21.00 pm).

Welcome aboard!

Schacky Park - A 100 year old landscape park near Dießen

Take the boat from Stegen (e.g. ship no. 2 from 10.25 pm) or Herrsching to Dießen. From the steamer pier in Dießen along the signposted promenade, it takes about 20 minutes to Schacky Park.

Meandering paths lead past fountains, sculptures and ponds to a Monopteros in this 100 year old landscape park.

Opening times:
The park is open every day from Easter to October (except Monday) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Free entrance! (Entrance on Weilheimer Street at Villa Diana).

"Gasteiger" artist's house and "Alte Villa" beer garden

Art and nature lovers take the boat from Herrsching to Holzhausen. After a short walk you can reach the artist's house with its beautiful and publicly accessible park. For those who would like, why not visit the small art gallery which is open on Sundays from 2 pm to 5 pm. Our footpath continues to the spacious "Alte Villa" beer garden (about 30 mins), with a large playground and swimming area. You can return via the nearby pier in Utting.

Museum trains on the Ammersee Steam Railway

All aboard! In summer, nostalgic museum trains run again on the "Ammersee Steam Railway" between the Augsburg Railway Park and Utting on Lake Ammersee.

In Utting, the steam trains are only a few metres away from the shore of Lake Ammersee. The landscape around the lake invites you to swim, sail, hike, visit the beer gardens or embark on a boat trip with one of the popular paddle steamers.

Pilgrimage Church St. Jakob

After stopping off in Schondorf, a visit to the Romanesque pilgrimage Church of St. Jakob from the 12th Century is worthwhile. The cosy “Seepost” beer garden is just next door. Those still in need of movement can wander another 30 minutes towards Stegen and cool off on the bathing shore of Eching. A further 30 minute walk takes you onto Stegen. From there, take the boat back to the departure point.

Recreation oasis on the north bank of Lake Ammersee - Stegen

Take the S-Bahn from Munich to the lake at Herrsching, board the boat and head onto the recreation oasis at Stegen on the north bank of Lake Ammersee. In Stegen, a family-friendly bathing area invites you to swim and relax. At the nearby mini-golf course, future "golf talents" are discovered and the beautiful beer gardens directly on the shore round off this diverse excursion.

Hike up to the Andechs Monastery

For those wishing to move their legs a little after a leisurely boat ride, take the road up to Andechs from the steamer pier at Herrsching. From here, you pass Kienbach over the Kien Valley and through Herrsching town centre towards Andechs.

A visit to the Andechs Monastery on the "Holy Mountain" is particularly worthwhile, because the monastery’s tavern is a tasty magnet thanks to its kitchen and its beer from the monastery brewery.
