By public transport to Königssee:

Change at Berchtesgaden station to the bus – lines 840, 841, 843 – of the Upper Bavaria regional transport service towards Königssee. Bus timetable.

The Seelände (boat landing stage and ticket office) can be reached in approx. 5 minutes from the bus car park.

Parking, piers and toilets

Seelände (village Schönau am Königssee)
  • The large car park at Königssee is operated by the municipality of Schönau and is subject to a charge. The car park is approx. 5 minutes away from the pier and the ticket office. To enjoy the boat trip in peace, we recommend purchasing a day ticket. The journey to St. Bartholomä and back, including boarding and disembarking, takes around 90 minutes. This does not include sightseeing or waiting times.

  • Toilets: There are public toilets at the car park and at the lake shore. There is also a disabled toilet at the lake shore. There are no toilets on the boats.

 

 

St. Bartholomä
  • A peninsula at the foot of the Watzmann East Face with a pilgrimage church, inn, beer garden and national park information centre. Starting point for numerous hikes and mountain tours. The one-way journey time by electric boat is 35 minutes. St. Bartholomä can only be reached via a mountain tour lasting several hours or by boat. There is no hiking trail from Seelände to St. Bartholomä along the lake shore.
  • Year-round service (except when the lake is frozen).
  • Toilets: There is a toilet in the waiting room, as well as a toilet for disabled persons. There is also a disabled toilet behind the St. Bartholomä restaurant. There are no toilets on the boats.
Salet (near Lake Obersee)
  • The final stop on the Königssee boat trip. The one-way journey from Königssee Seelände takes approx. 50 minutes. Allow approx. two hours for the return trip. The Obersee can be reached in approx. 15 minutes from the Salet landing stage. From there, you have a spectacular view of the Obersee and the Röthbachfall (Germany's highest waterfall). The Fischunkelalm (located at the other end of the Obersee) is another 45 minutes away. Salet can only be reached by water or over the mountains (a mountain tour lasting several hours). There is no path along the lake shore between St. Bartholomä and Salet.
  • Salet is only accessible during the summer months (from around mid-April to mid-October).
  • Toilets: There is a WC and a disabled WC in the waiting room. There are no WCs on the boats.
