Guidelines for bringing dogs on board
- Dogs are only allowed to travel under the supervision of a suitable person. They are not allowed to move freely on board or on the piers. Dogs that disturb other guests must be kept on a leash.
- On the boats of Schifffahrt Königssee, all dogs must wear a muzzle, regardless of breed or size. Only dogs in closed transport boxes are exempt from this rule. Guide dogs and marked assistance dogs do not need to wear a muzzle.
- Fighting dogs (according to the Bavarian Ordinance on Dangerous Dogs of 10 July 1992) are not permitted.
- Dog trailers cannot usually be transported.
- In the interests of our other passengers, please do not allow your dog to swim in the lake immediately before the trip. The boat crew may refuse to transport wet dogs.
Hiking with dogs
Dogs accompanying mountaineers must also wear a muzzle on the return journey from Salet, St. Bartholomä or Kessel. To avoid being excluded from transport, please carry a muzzle in your rucksack.
Reasons for the muzzle requirement on Lake Königssee
There is limited space on electric motorboats. This can sometimes lead to unpleasant situations between passengers and dogs. Many guests are afraid of dogs and feel unsafe in confined spaces.
The journey is often stressful for dogs too – due to the confined space, heat and lack of fresh air. The boat crew cannot always predict how a dog will behave.
For the safety of all passengers, dogs are therefore required to wear a muzzle.
Small animals
Small animals – up to the size of a domestic cat – may travel in a closed transport container. This must be designed in such a way that neither people nor property are affected.
