Disabled toilets

The boats do not have toilets.

The nearest disabled toilets near the pier are located:

  • at Seelände in the first boathouse (facing the lake, on the left-hand side)
  • in St. Bartholomä behind the restaurant and next to the ticket office at the waiting area (may require a Euro key to open)
  • in Salet in the waiting room

There are no disabled toilets in the Saletalm restaurant or the alpine huts.

Wheelchair

You can always bring a wheelchair with you free of charge. Unfortunately, electric wheelchairs cannot be taken on board as they cannot be carried down the steps onto the boat. However, you can borrow a manual wheelchair free of charge from the ticket office (limited number available).

Do you use a wheelchair, a rollator or other aids? Perhaps you are travelling with a pram or have limited mobility due to an injury.

How do I get to the piers and boats?

  • The piers of Schifffahrt Königssee are accessible without steps.
  • Please take care when boarding and disembarking. Access to the boats is narrow, steep and involves three steps down (see picture). The boats are secured to the pier at two points with ropes, creating a small gap between the jetty and the boat. The boats may rock when boarding and disembarking. The boat crew will be happy to assist you when boarding and disembarking.
  • There is space for approximately one to two wheelchairs (no electric wheelchairs) per boat in the boarding area. Larger groups of wheelchair users should register in advance with the station manager (phone +49 8652 9636-96).

What are the hiking trails like in St. Bartholomä and Salet?

  • St. Bartholomä: The lakeside circular trail and the path to the chapel of St. John and Paul are wheelchair accessible (good, level gravel path).
  • Salet: The path to Obersee is easy and also suitable for wheelchair users (good, slightly ascending gravel path).
